Shadow Training Institute (STI)

All parents want to feel confident that their children are getting the best education possible when they drop them off at school each day. For those parents whose children require extra attention from a teacher’s aide (or shadow), it can be especially stressful to have to worry about whether the shadow assigned to their child is adequately trained. Shadows need to be equipped with personalized training in order to support the child’s ability to be successful academically and socially in a mainstream class.

The Shadow Training Institute’s courses are specifically designed to help Shadow Teachers facilitate maximal learning and promote student independence in areas of behavior management, social skills, and learning. Our programs are ideal for both new Shadows and experienced Shadows alike, as we always focus on the most current, specific techniques in the fields of special education and child psychology.

Participants will receive will be given clinical instruction, up-to-date research, and practical tools and solutions to ensure their success in the classroom. Through the combination of group discussion, individualized exercises, and lecture, shadow teachers are given the opportunity to discuss common concerns and encourage and motivate each other while learning how to handle situations common to children with special needs. Shadows can register themselves, or parents/schools can sponsor a Shadow as a commitment to professional excellence.

Professionals are taught strategies for both themselves and their students. Our teacher training workshops provide professionals with additional skills and background that can help equip teachers with knowledge and skills to better understand their students and facilitate social and emotional intelligence in their classrooms.

On Thursday, March 8th, Dr. Tamar Kahane presented the POWER program to early childhood educators in Long Island, NY. She emPOWERED them with valuable tools and strategies to utilize in their own classrooms in order to teach their students to become the best CEO of themselves!
